Truth is a funny thing.
There can only really be one truth in any given situation, just like there can only really be one Superbowl Champion each season, one United States President at a time, and so on. And yet, we often are supplied with two or more versions of “truth” on many topics.
Sometimes those varying truths don’t really matter a whole lot, such as declaring who shot first – Han Solo or Greedo? (Answer: it depends on which version of Star Wars Episode 4 you are watching.)
But other times, an understanding of what is truth and what isn’t can have a huge impact on you.
For example, is the existence of the known universe and all life contained within it the result of the creative work of a higher being, or was it all a result of pure chance?
The answer to that question should have a profound impact on your thoughts, decisions and actions. It is a question that has been answered definitively, “yes,” for both possibilities. But clearly, both answers can not be true.
So how can one determine which answer is correct? Logically, we should examine the claims and the evidence of both viewpoints, to see which one really holds up.
And that is why this website exists and why I have spoken at various locations around the country.
Ephesians 6 describes the parts that make up the Armor of God:
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
The very first piece mentioned, in verse 14, is the belt of truth. I believe this is listed first because if we do not start with truth, we are starting from the wrong starting point.
Have you ever entered in an incorrect address into your phone or GPS and then made it to your correct destination? No, of course not. If you begin with the wrong starting point, you are not going to wind up at the correct location.
We should all care deeply about truth. Especially truth that can have eternal consequences.
Sadly, it is all too common today, for young people especially, to switch their answer to this question of origins after a semester or two of Biology, Geology, Anthropology, etc. And that’s because theories contrary to a divine origin are presented as fact, and students rarely are encouraged or allowed to think critically or examine the evidences given. As you will see in this blog, the evidence does not hold up.
Thankfully, much hard work has been done by others to expose the many untruths being taught as fact in such circumstances, which I have felt convicted to share when and where I can, on this website, with the hope of preventing as many people as I can from walking blindly into a belief system that utterly destroys hope in a future and removes all meaning from life.
